Why My Daily Routines Feel Like a Luxury in Motherhood

I used to move through my routines without thinking twice. Long showers. Slow mornings. Skincare done without interruption. Even running errands alone felt normal. Now, when those moments happen, they feel almost extravagant. Not because they’re big or fancy, but because they’re rare.

I’ve noticed myself savoring things I used to rush through. Standing in the shower a little longer. Actually finishing my skincare routine. Drinking something while it’s still hot.

It’s made me realize how much my life has shifted, even in ways I didn’t fully acknowledge at first. I don’t resent it. I just notice it. There’s a tenderness in realizing that what once felt ordinary now feels special. It reminds me to slow down when those moments come. To not fill them with distractions or expectations.

This season has taught me that luxury doesn’t always look like more. Sometimes it looks like uninterrupted time. Sometimes it looks like finishing what you started.
